Transforming Shelter

Limited resources available in isolated environments mean that covering for home and clothing for the body are often created from the same fabric. This creates a close relationship between the two. Clothing effectively becomes an offshoot of the home and vice versa.

Pertex Aquabloc, Teflon Polyester Microfibre, Cordura details, Eyelets, Telescopic armatures and Seam Sealed construction.

About

Tom Beanland designs and makes transformable, portable structures and garments for interacting with the landscape. He utilises innovative materials and construction techniques to create pieces which enhance relationships between people and environments. He now runs his European Operations and Manufacturing workshop from a secret muddy location in the United Kingdom. Work is carried out from a combined studio and workshop where concept development, detailing, prototyping and small scale fabrication take place. He is looking for opportunities and contacts to help build the scope of his work and make further advances in quality and innovation.
